Dennis Nyati - National Coordinator

Dennis manages the Zambian MDG Campaign in implementation of programmes, working with consultants, members and funding from external donor agencies. As a result the organisation has since sought formal registration under the name Tiyende Pamodzi Against Poverty. The governing structures have since been formed in form of National Council and Advisory Board. The National Council is organized around working groups to cover areas of policy and research, mobilizations and outreach, media and networking, Finance and Administration. Mercy Mulenshi - Media and Linkages Programmes Officer

Mercy works around strengthening and expanding partnerships, networks and collaborations with other actors. This department has continued to cooperate with organisations at the national, regional and international levels, whose mandate and objectives are similar to Tiyende Pamodzi.

Tiyende Pamodzi aims to be a coalition, with “membership” open to those who endorse the GCAP policy demands and the fight against Poverty. The strength of GCAP is measured by the broad representation of national coalitions. Aware of the so many networks, coalitions and other forums, we would like to invest our energies in developing a GCAP coalition that is loose, focused and vibrant. Coalition building is NOT a natural process; it is more complex and requires a lot of clarity to who would be members.

Tiyende Pamodzi recognises that effective advocacy requires use of various means of communication. Under this pathway Tiyende Pamodzi intends to use the media as means of communication in its advocacy work. The campaign further recognises the fact that collaborating with other organisations and stakeholders is very important especially in poverty reduction programmes. As such under this pathway Tiyende Pamodzi works closely with organisations with a similar agenda. On certain issues networks are formed to address the identified problems.  The focus targets to be achieved under media and communication include:

    1. Airing of a number of community and other radio and television programmes on the MDGs and other poverty reduction programmes.
    2. Production of brochures and leaflets for effective information sharing and dissemination.
    3. Formation of networks around issues on MDGs
    4. And initiation and use of forums as platforms for coalition members to discuss issues of common interest.
